In the spirit of the remarkable people who faced down Jim Crow to found Black Wall Street–and on the eve of the centennial of the Tulsa Race Massacre which turned their prosperity into rubble–an historic and timely new show is coming to Public Radio Tulsa beginning February 2020.   Focus: Black Oklahoma brings the voice of Black Oklahoma back to mainstream broadcast media for the first time in more than 30 years. This one hour news and current events program seeks to inform the public through stories and interviews, engage the community through lively discussion, and spotlight local artists and creators.

Topics include politics, law, business, education, technology, family, health, spirituality, arts and culture, sports, and more–anything relevant to Oklahoma’s Black community. Focus: Black Oklahoma is produced in partnership by Public Radio Tulsa, the Tulsa Artist Fellowship, the Tulsa Community Foundation and Tri-City Collective.
